Men's Thick Chains
A thick chain is meant to be seen, so it has to look right up close as well as from across a room. That means clean links, a clasp sized to the chain, and metal that doesn't go dull.
These are our heaviest chains for the neck: chunky Cuban, Figaro, Byzantine and fancy links, in 316L stainless steel, silver or 18k gold plated, cut and finished by us. Steel is heavier than it looks and doesn't bend out of shape, so a thick chain keeps its line.
They're sold by length from 35cm to 90cm. A heavy chain sits better a little longer, on the collarbone or just below, but where it sits is your call, so measure a chain you own or wrap a tape where you want it. If you're moving up from a 6mm, 8mm is the next step; 10mm and 12mm are the ones people turn round for.
How heavy is a thick chain?
Heavier than it looks. Steel is dense, so an 8mm Cuban has real weight on the neck and a 12mm is a piece you'll feel all day. The clasps are sized to the chain, so the fastening is as strong as the links.
Which width should I get?
6mm is our most popular width. Under 4mm sits under a shirt and pairs with a pendant. 8mm and up is meant to be seen, and 10mm and 12mm are heavy pieces you'll feel. If you already wear a chain, measure its width and go the same or one step up.
What length chain should I get?
Measure a chain you already wear, end to end with the clasp, or wrap a tape where you want it to sit. Our necklaces are sold in centimetres from 35cm to 90cm. Shorter sits at the base of the neck, longer sits on the chest, and where you want it is your call. You can add the optional 4 inch extender on the product if you'd like some room either way.
Cuban, Figaro or Byzantine?
Cuban is the flat, interlocking link most people picture when they think of a chain. Figaro has a rhythm, three short links and one long, so it looks finished on its own. Byzantine is four links woven together; it's heavy for its width and it's the one people ask about. Box and belcher are the plainer options.
Silver or gold?
Both are 316L stainless steel. Silver is steel all the way through, so there's nothing to wear off. Gold is an 18k plate over the same steel, which stays gold for years but eventually wears where it rubs hardest, usually the clasp. Match your watch or whatever else you wear.
Can I wear it in the shower or at the gym?
Yes. It's water resistant, so showers, training and sleeping in it are fine. Rinse it after the sea or a pool and dry it.

Every piece comes in a black velvet pouch. Where a gift box is offered, you'll see it as an option on the product; add it there if it's a present.
