Paperclip Chokers
Paperclip chokers, the wide ones, cut to the throat. Long, flat, open links from 8mm up to 18mm, where each one is the length of your thumbnail and the choker sits like a collar. Not the fine paperclip you'll see everywhere; ours is the one that gets asked about.
A wide open link is exactly where cheap plating goes dull, inside the loops where you can't polish, so these are 316L stainless steel, silver or 18k gold plated, and that doesn't happen. Sized Small, Medium and Large by neck measurement with the 4 inch extender fitted to the chain; a wide paperclip lies flattest when it's snug, so wrap a tape round your neck where you want it and don't size up for comfort. It's a small collection, because chain this size is slow to come by. We do the same links as a necklace and a bracelet.
Which link size should I get?
The measurement is the length of one link. 8mm links read as a fine chain with a little rhythm and layer with a pendant necklace below. 15mm is the paperclip choker most people buy, visible without weight, and works alone or as the top layer. 18mm links are long and open and are the choker on their own.
What size do I need?
Tape round the neck just above the collarbone. Small fits 11 to 15 inches (28 to 38cm), Medium 13 to 17 inches (33 to 43cm), Large 15 to 19 inches (38 to 48cm). The 4 inch extender is included with each.
Can I add a charm to it?
Yes. Thread a small padlock or initial through one of the links rather than hanging it from a bail and it sits flat and centred at the throat. That works on the 8mm and 15mm; the 18mm is better plain.
Why choose a paperclip choker?
Because it lies flat. A round or twisted link turns a little against the neck and catches hair; a paperclip does not. It is also the choker that stacks best with a second chain, because flat links do not knot.
Will it tarnish or turn my neck green?
No. Silver paperclip chokers are solid 316L stainless steel with nothing plated on them; the gold 15mm is 18k plate over that steel. The wide flat face of a paperclip link is where plate wears first, and the silver has none to wear.
Can I wear it in the shower?
Yes. A flat open link holds no water. Towel it after.
Is it hypoallergenic?
For most wearers, yes. 316L stainless steel, and a flat link puts more of it against the neck than a round one.
What comes in the box?
A black velvet pouch. Where a gift box is offered, you'll see it as an option on the product page.
