Belcher Necklaces
A belcher necklace looks plain until you notice how it lies. Round links with a flat inner edge, so it sits flush against the skin instead of rolling, and a pendant hung from it stays facing forward. In America it's rolo. Same chain.
Ours go from a 2mm you'd barely notice up to 12mm rings you can feel, in 316L stainless steel, silver or 18k gold plated. The links are round and open, which makes belcher the easiest chain to hang a charm from, and the reason a lot of people buy one is that they've already got the charm. Lengths run from 35cm to 90cm; measure where you want it to sit, and if you'd like the option of longer, choose the extender and we fit it. The same chain's here as a choker and a bracelet.
Which width should I get?
2mm is a fine Belcher that carries a small pendant and layers. 4mm is the everyday width and is the one our padlock and initial charms are sized to clip onto. 6mm and 7mm read as a chain worn for itself. 10mm and 12mm are heavy round links, worn alone, usually at 50cm or longer, and look older and more solid than a Cuban of the same width.
What length do I need?
Belcher necklaces come in nine lengths from 35 to 90cm. 45cm sits the chain on the collarbone. 50cm is the length for a charm or pendant. 55cm and 60cm carry the 10mm and 12mm on a broader frame. 70cm and above hang low for layering. The optional 4 inch extender adds up to 10cm.
How is a Belcher different from a cable chain?
Both are round links. The Belcher's are thicker and more open, so a jump ring passes through any link and a charm clips straight on without a bail. Cable links are finer and tighter and take a pendant on a bail. If you want to hang a padlock or a letter anywhere along the chain, buy the Belcher.
Will it tarnish or turn my skin green?
No. Silver Belcher chains are solid 316L stainless steel; the gold 4mm is 18k plate over that steel. Steel does not react with air and carries no copper.
Can I wear it in the shower?
Yes. Water resistant, and a round open link holds no water.
Is it hypoallergenic?
For most wearers, yes. 316L stainless steel, which is why it can stay on for weeks.
What comes in the box?
A black velvet pouch. Where a gift box is offered, you'll see it as an option on the product page.
