Belcher Chain Bracelets

A belcher bracelet doesn't roll. A bracelet moves all day, and a chain that rolls will have its clasp on top by lunchtime; belcher has round links with a flat inner edge, so it sits against the wrist and stays where you put it. In America it's called rolo; it's the same chain.

Ours run from a 2mm line up to 12mm rings you can feel, in 316L stainless steel, silver or 18k gold plated, so it stands up to the knocks a wrist takes. The links are round and open, which makes belcher the easiest chain to hang a small charm from if you've got one. Sold in 2cm steps: measure your wrist snug, just below the bone, and add a centimetre or two. The 4cm extender is fitted if you'd like it. We do the same chain as a necklace and a choker.

Which width should I get?

2mm if it is going in a stack or carrying a single small charm. 4mm as the everyday Belcher bracelet, and the one to buy if you want to clip charms on, because our padlocks and initials are sized for it. 6mm and 7mm read as a chain worn alone. 10mm and 12mm are heavy round links with real weight, worn with nothing else on the wrist.

What size do I need?

Tape round the wrist just below the bone, snug, then add 1.5cm. Sizes are 16, 18, 20 and 22cm. A 10mm or 12mm Belcher takes half a centimetre more because the links are thick as well as wide. The optional 4cm extender gives one bracelet two fits.

How do I add a charm?

Open a jump ring, pass it through any link and close it. That is all; the links are open enough for it. On the 4mm and wider the charm stays put and lies flat. Two charms on one Belcher, spaced apart, is a common build.

How is it different from a cable bracelet?

Both are round links, but a Belcher's are thicker and more open, so they take a jump ring, and a cable's are finer and closer, so they take a pendant on a bail. The Belcher reads sturdier on a wrist.

Will it tarnish or turn my wrist green?

No. Solid 316L stainless steel, with nothing plated and no copper in it.

Can I wear it in the shower?

Yes. Round open links hold no water, so it dries with a towel.

Is it hypoallergenic?

For most wearers, yes. The inside of the wrist is thin skin, and this is 316L stainless steel.

What comes in the box?

A black velvet pouch. Where a gift box is offered, you'll see it as an option on the product page.
