Gold Bracelets
A gold bracelet lives a harder life than a necklace. Desks, taps, the inside of a sleeve, every door frame you brush past. Most gold bracelets don't survive that as gold. Ours are 316L stainless steel under an 18k gold plate, so what's underneath is the same steel as our silver range, and it doesn't turn your wrist green.
Honest word on plating: it's a surface, and it eventually wears where the bracelet rubs most, over years not weeks. If you want a bracelet you never think about, our silver ones are the harder-wearing choice. If you want gold, this is the honest version of it, and it's warmer against black than silver will ever be. From 2mm chains you'd stack three of up to 15mm pieces that are nearer a cuff, sold in 2cm steps, with the 4cm extender fitted if you'd like it.
Which gold bracelet should I get?
A 2mm or 3mm gold Cuban next to a gold watch is the everyday one. A 5mm or 7mm Cuban on its own shows. The 10mm and 12mm Cuban are heavy pieces for a bare wrist. The 10mm star link reads celestial and stacks with a fine chain. The crescent moon and O ring on 6mm cable is the gothic one. The engraved hearts are the gift version and take a name or a date.
What size do I need?
Tape round the wrist just below the bone, snug, and add 1.5cm. Sizes are 16, 18, 20 and 22cm, with a 4cm extender as an option. The engraved bracelets come in Small 16.5cm, Medium 19cm and Large 22cm. For a gift with no measurement, 18cm is our most popular women's size and 20cm the most popular men's, and the 4cm extender gives you room if you've guessed.
Will the gold wear off?
Not with normal wear, and a wrist is the hardest test. Gold plated brass goes brassy on a wrist within weeks, because the brass corrodes under the plate and lifts it at the links. Ours is 18k gold bonded to stainless steel, which does not corrode, so there is nothing under the plate to push it off. Spray perfume and hairspray first and put the bracelet on afterwards.
Will it turn my wrist green?
No. A green ring under a gold bracelet is copper from a brass base. There is no copper in 316L steel.
Can I wear it in the shower?
Yes, and washing up. The plate is bonded to steel, so water does not get under it. Rinse after the sea and dry.
Is it hypoallergenic?
For most wearers, yes. Cheap gold bracelets have a nickel layer between brass and gold; ours has gold straight over 316L stainless steel.
What comes in the box?
A black velvet pouch. Where a gift box is offered, you'll see it as an option on the product page.
