Jewellery Gifts for Her

Buying jewellery for someone else is mostly guessing, and the trick is to guess from what you already know. The month she was born. The letter her name starts with. Whether she wears silver or gold. Whether she'd rather have a skull than a flower.

This collection is where we'd start: heart pendants, birthstones, initials in our blackletter alphabet, word chokers, engraved necklaces and a few pairs of earrings. Everything is 316L stainless steel, silver or 18k gold plated, with every chain cut and finished by us, so it won't turn her neck green and will look the same next year. It doesn't react with skin for most wearers, and she can shower and sleep in it.

Chokers come in Small, Medium and Large by neck measurement with the 4 inch extender fitted, and necklaces are sold by length from 35cm to 90cm. If you can't ask, borrow a necklace she already wears and measure that. Engraved pieces take two to three working days, so leave time. Where the product offers a gift box, add it; it's the first thing she'll see.

What should I buy her?

Start from something you already know. If you know her birthday, a birthstone or her star sign. If you know her initial, an initial in our blackletter alphabet. If you know the words, something engraved. If you know she's been let down by cheap chains, a plain one in steel, which will still look right next year.

What if I don't know their size?

Find a necklace they already wear and measure it end to end, clasp included. That's the length to buy. Our necklaces are sold in centimetres from 35cm to 90cm, and you can add the optional 4 inch extender on the product if you'd like some room either way. We can't tell you what size someone is, but the chain on their neck can.

How do I size a choker I'm buying for someone else?

Measure a choker or short chain they already wear, end to end, and compare it with the lengths on the product. Our chokers come in Small, Medium and Large, and every one has the 4 inch extender fitted to the chain. If their chain falls between two of our sizes, take the smaller one: the extender adds room, but nothing takes it away.

Silver or gold?

Look at what they already wear, on their hands and in their ears, and match it. Both are 316L stainless steel underneath. The gold is an 18k plate over that steel, which stays warm for years but eventually wears where it rubs hardest. The silver is steel all the way through, so there's nothing to wear off.

How long does engraving take?

Engraved pieces are made to order here in the UK and take two to three working days before they ship, so give yourself a week before the date. Because they carry your words they can't be returned, so read it back twice and check the spelling of the name.

Does it come gift boxed?

Day collars come gift boxed as standard. On other pieces, where a gift box is offered you'll see it as an option on the product; add it there before it goes in your basket. Steel pieces without a box come in a black velvet pouch.
