Cable Chain
Cable chain is the oldest one there is, and it hasn't changed because it doesn't need to. Round or oval links, one through the next. It moves easily, lies flat, and takes any pendant you've got. If you own one chain, there's a good argument for it being cable.
This collection is every cable we do: chokers sized to the neck with the extender fitted, necklaces from 35cm to 90cm, bracelets in 2cm steps, from a 2mm that disappears under a pendant to a 10mm where the links are the point. All 316L stainless steel, silver or 18k gold plated, so it doesn't turn your neck green and looks the same in five years. A 2mm or 3mm is the one for a pendant; a 4mm or 5mm is the one to wear alone. The widths line up across the three, so a set is picking the same number.
Necklace, choker or bracelet?
The necklace at 45cm or 50cm is the pendant chain, the one you will hang things from. The choker sits at the throat and takes a small pendant or goes under a collar. The bracelet sits beside a watch. A 2mm cable in all three is the plainest set we sell and the one we see worn most.
Which width?
2mm for a small pendant or for layering under a wider chain. 3mm and 4mm as the everyday cable, alone or under a pendant up to 30mm. 6mm worn for itself. 10mm chunky and worn alone.
What size do I need?
Necklaces: 35 to 90cm, 45cm sitting at the collarbone. Chokers: Small for 11 to 15 inch necks, Medium 13 to 17, Large 15 to 19, extender included. Bracelets: 16 to 22cm; measure the wrist snug and add 1.5cm.
Why choose cable over another link?
Because it gets out of the way. Cable does not compete with a pendant, does not twist and does not snag hair. It is the chain jewellers hang everything from. If you want the chain itself looked at, a Cuban or a Figaro; if you want a chain to carry something, cable.
Will it tarnish or turn my skin green?
No. Silver cable is solid 316L stainless steel; gold is 18k plate over that steel. A plain chain is where plating shows first and there is no plating on the silver.
Can I wear it in the shower?
Yes. Round links hold nothing, so towel it and it is done.
Is it hypoallergenic?
For most wearers, yes. 316L stainless steel, and on a fine cable that sits close to the skin at the back of the neck, that matters.
What comes in the box?
A black velvet pouch. Where a gift box is offered, you'll see it as an option on the product page.
