Engraved Bracelets
An engraved bracelet is the one you see every time you look at your own hand, which is the reason people choose it over a necklace for the words that matter. A date. A name. A short line you don't want to explain to anyone.
Ours are a small collection on purpose. A plate or a heart on a chain, in silver or 18k gold plated 316L stainless steel, so the engraving stays crisp and the metal stays the colour you chose. On plated alloy the letters soften and the surface goes off inside a year; on steel they outlast the bracelet's first owner. We engrave to order here in the UK, so allow two to three working days before it ships, and because it carries your words it can't be returned. Read it back twice before you pay, and check the spelling of the name.
The character limit sits beside the box when you type, so you'll know whether it fits before you order. Sizing is by length, in centimetres, in 2cm steps. Measure your wrist snug, just below the bone, and add a centimetre or two. If you'd like the 4cm extender we fit it before it ships. Most of these are bought for someone else, and the gift box is worth adding, because they'll keep it. If you'd rather the words hung at the neck, our engraved necklaces give you more to choose from.
What can I have engraved?
The 20mm hearts take initials, a short name or a date on one line. The 30mm chunky hearts have room for two lines, a name over a date. Keep it short; a wrist is read at a glance, and anything past a dozen characters gets small. The product page lists the limit. Check your text twice before you confirm, because we engrave it exactly as it arrives.
What size do I need?
A snug tape measure just below the wrist bone, plus 1.5cm, gives the length to buy from 16, 18, 20 and 22cm. For a gift with no measurement, 18cm fits most women and 20cm fits most men, and the 4cm extender on the box chain versions covers the gap. The chunky Cuban versions have a toggle clasp and no extender, so get the measurement right on those.
Box chain or Cuban?
The box chain bracelet is fine, 2mm, and the heart is the whole piece; it suits someone who wears dainty jewellery. The 10mm Cuban version is heavy and the heart sits on it like a tag; it suits someone who already wears chunky chains. Silver engraves darker and reads more clearly; gold engraves as a fine silver line through the plate.
Will the engraving wear off?
No. The letters go into solid steel. A wrist rubs desks, cuffs and taps all day, and that is where an engraving through a plate wears to brass and goes dark; ours has no plate to wear through.
Will it tarnish or turn my wrist green?
No. Steel does not react with air or sweat, and there is no copper in it to leave a ring on the wrist. The gold bracelets are plated over that steel rather than brass.
Can I wear it in the shower?
Yes, and washing up too. Run a fingernail along the engraving under the tap every so often to clear soap from the letters, then dry it.
How long does it take?
Engraving is done in two to three working days and the bracelet goes out after that. Allow a week for a birthday or anniversary.
Can I have a bracelet and necklace engraved to match?
Yes. The 20mm heart on the box chain bracelet matches the 20mm heart necklace, and the chunky Cuban heart bracelet matches the chunky heart necklace. Order both with the same text and they are cut together.
