Silver Gothic Jewellery
Silver gothic jewellery, the whole range with the gold taken out, for the people who only wear silver and don't want to scroll past things they'd never buy.
Silver here means 316L stainless steel, not sterling and not plate, and that's a choice. Sterling tarnishes and wants polishing. Plate wears through. 316L is silver all the way down, the same grade of steel as a watch case, so there's nothing to wear off and it looks the same in ten years. It's why we can put a lifetime guarantee on our own pieces and mean it. Chokers, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, day collars and pendants each have their own collection if you know what you're after; if you don't, the pendants are where most people start and the plain chains are where they end up.
Silver steel or sterling silver?
Steel, for anything worn daily. Sterling silver is 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper, and the copper is what tarnishes and what can mark skin. 316L stainless steel has no copper, does not react with air, and looks the same colour on the neck. The trade is that steel cannot be resized by a jeweller, which is why we sell chains in nine lengths and chokers in three sizes instead.
What size do I need?
Chokers: Small for 11 to 15 inch necks, Medium 13 to 17, Large 15 to 19, with a 4 inch extender on chain chokers. Necklaces: 35 to 90cm, with 45cm at the collarbone. Bracelets: 16 to 22cm, a snug wrist measurement plus 1.5cm. Earrings need no size; the hoop diameter is on each product page.
How do I build a silver set?
A plain chain, a pendant, a bracelet in the same link, a pair of huggies. Keep it all silver and it reads as one set without matching. Add a choker when you want more at the throat, and a chunky chain for the days the pendant stays in the drawer.
Will it tarnish or turn my skin green?
No. That is the point of the material. No oxidising, no copper, no plate on the silver to wear through. The pieces we make ourselves carry our lifetime guarantee.
Can I wear it in the shower?
The steel, yes. The faux leather and velvet pieces, and anything with a chrome plated brass padlock, should stay dry; those say so on their pages.
Is it hypoallergenic?
For most wearers, yes. 316L is the grade body piercing studios use because so few people react to it.
What comes in the box?
A black velvet pouch on steel pieces, an organza bag on fabric and faux leather. Day collars come gift boxed as standard. On everything else, where a gift box is offered, you'll see it as an option on the product page.
