Huggie Earrings
A huggie is the earring you don't take out. It sits tight against the lobe, snaps shut, and doesn't catch on jumpers, pillows or phone calls.
Ours run from a plain 12mm huggie to heavier spiked, skull and cross designs, in 316L stainless steel, silver or 18k gold plated. The steel is hypoallergenic for most wearers and doesn't tarnish, which matters more on an earring you leave in for weeks. Sold as pairs.
Huggies snap shut on a small hinge and stay closed. They're measured across the ring, from 12mm to about 20mm; the smaller the size, the closer to the lobe it sits. If you want something that hangs more, our small hoops are the next step out. A plain huggie is the one most people buy a second pair of.
What's the difference between a huggie and a hoop?
A huggie is a small, thicker hoop that sits tight against the lobe and snaps shut; a hoop hangs a little lower and swings. Huggies are the ones you sleep in.
Are they hypoallergenic?
For most wearers, yes. They're 316L stainless steel, the grade used for surgical steel, so they can stay in for weeks without the itch that plated alloy causes. They're sold as pairs.
Can I sleep in them?
Yes. That's what they're for: they sit flat to the lobe and don't catch. The steel doesn't tarnish in the shower either.
Silver or gold?
Both are 316L stainless steel. The gold is an 18k plate over that steel, which stays warm for years but eventually wears at the post and hinge, where it rubs most. The silver is steel all the way through, so there's nothing to wear off.
