Cable Chain Chokers
A cable chain choker is the one that gets out of the way. Round links, nothing fancy, lies flat, moves with you. If you want a line at the base of your neck rather than a statement, or something to hang a small pendant from that won't fight it, this is the one.
Ours go from 2mm, which nearly disappears, up to 10mm, where the links are big enough to be the point. Chokers are where cheap plating fails first, because the clasp sits right on the skin at the back of the neck; ours are 316L stainless steel, silver or 18k gold plated, so that's not a thing that happens. Small, Medium and Large by neck measurement, with the 4 inch extender fitted to the chain, not loose in the box. Wrap a tape round your neck where you want it to sit. We do the same chain as a necklace and a bracelet.
Which width should I get?
2mm is a thread at the throat for a small pendant or for layering under a wider choker. 3mm and 4mm show on their own and still sit under a shirt collar; the 4mm is the everyday cable choker and takes most pendants. 6mm is a chain worn for itself. 10mm is chunky and worn alone.
What size do I need?
Measure your neck where the choker will sit. Small fits 11 to 15 inches (28 to 38cm), Medium 13 to 17 inches (33 to 43cm), Large 15 to 19 inches (38 to 48cm). The 4 inch extender is included, so each size covers its full range.
How do I wear it with a pendant?
Thread the pendant on before you fasten the choker and it sits centred at the throat. Round links let it hang straight without twisting. Match the pendant to the width: small pendants on 2mm or 3mm, 20mm to 30mm pendants on 4mm.
Will it tarnish or turn my neck green?
No. A plain chain is where plating shows first, and there is no plate on the silver cable; the gold is 18k plated over steel rather than brass. No oxidising, no copper.
Can I wear it in the shower?
Yes. Towel it after; round links hold no water.
Is it hypoallergenic?
For most wearers, yes. A cheap choker often marks the back of the neck where the clasp sits, and the clasp here is the same 316L stainless steel as the chain.
