Box Chain Chokers

A box chain choker is the choker for a pendant. Square links, each a small cube, so it hangs straight, never twists, and whatever you hang from it stays facing the front. If you've got a small charm you want at the base of your neck, this is the chain to put it on.

Ours run from a 2mm that disappears under the pendant up to a 6mm that's a piece on its own, in 316L stainless steel, silver or 18k gold plated. The edges of those little squares are where plating would show wear first; steel doesn't. Sized Small, Medium and Large by neck measurement with the 4 inch extender fitted to the chain. Wrap a tape round your neck where you want it to sit, and if you're between sizes, go down and the fitted extender covers the difference. We've got it as a necklace and a bracelet too.

Which width should I get?

2mm if the choker is going to carry a small pendant or sit under a wider one; it shows as a thread of light at the throat. 4mm as an everyday choker that is visible alone and still takes a pendant up to 30mm. 6mm as the choker itself, worn with nothing else, and in the square-edged version if you want it to look hard.

What size do I need?

Put a tape round your neck just above the collarbone. Small fits 11 to 15 inches (28 to 38cm), Medium 13 to 17 inches (33 to 43cm), Large 15 to 19 inches (38 to 48cm). The 4 inch extender is included with each, so a size covers its whole range. Buy Small for a choker worn tight, Medium for one with room to drop.

Round or square box?

The round box chain has each link's edges softened; the square keeps the corners. At 2mm and 4mm they look the same at the throat. At 6mm the square version is noticeably sharper and catches more light, and it is the one to buy if you like the box chain for its geometry.

Will it tarnish or turn my neck green?

No. The silver box chokers are solid 316L stainless steel, and the gold are 18k plate over the same steel rather than over brass. The corners of a square link are the first place a plated chain wears through, and there is nothing on the silver to wear.

Can I wear it in the shower?

Yes. Dry it with a towel and the faces of the links come back bright.

Is it hypoallergenic?

For most wearers, yes. 316L stainless steel, at the throat all day.

What comes in the box?

A black velvet pouch. Where a gift box is offered, you'll see it as an option on the product page.
