Heart Chokers & Necklaces
Heart necklaces and chokers mean different things on different necks, and this collection has all of them. A small heart pendant on a cable chain that nobody looks twice at. A heart padlock on a slip chain that everyone understands. A faux leather collar with a heart ring at the front, in a dozen colours, that sits somewhere between the two. We've put them together because people searching for a heart necklace rarely know which one they mean until they see it.
Our steel pieces are 316L stainless, silver or 18k gold plated, so they don't tarnish and you can keep them on. Our faux leather collars are the ones to look at if you want colour and a softer band. The working heart padlocks are plated brass, so they're the one thing here to take off before the shower.
Some of the hearts can be engraved: a name, a date, initials, whatever you'd want the other person to read. Those are made to order and take two to three working days before they ship. Chokers and collars are sized to the neck, with the extender fitted on the chain chokers. The pendant necklaces are sold by length in centimetres, from 35cm to 90cm, so measure where you'd like the heart to hang before you pick.
Which heart pendant size should I get?
Our pendant hearts come at 10mm, 20mm and 30mm across, with a few at 18mm and 24mm. A 10mm heart on a 2mm chain sits at the collarbone and is barely there; it is the one for daily wear and for layering under a longer chain. A 20mm heart is the standard pendant size, visible without being large. A 30mm heart is a proper pendant and wants a 4mm chain or wider so the chain does not look thin under it. The chunky engraved hearts are 30mm and sit on 10mm chain.
What length do I need?
Heart necklaces are sold in centimetres: 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 70, 80 and 90cm. A 40cm chain sits at the base of the throat, 45cm at the collarbone, 50cm just below it, and 60cm or more on the chest. For a pendant, 45cm or 50cm is the length most people choose. Every necklace has an optional 4 inch extender if you want two lengths from one chain. Heart chokers come in Small (11 to 15 inch necks), Medium (13 to 17) and Large (15 to 19) with a 4 inch extender included.
Silver or gold?
Both are the same 316L steel. Silver reads cooler and sits under most outfits; gold is 18k plated over the steel and reads warmer against black. If you are buying a gift, look at what they already wear on their hands and ears and match it. If you cannot tell, silver.
Will it tarnish or turn my skin green?
The stainless steel hearts will not. They do not oxidise and contain no copper, so no dark patches and no green line on the neck. The gold plating is over steel, not brass, so it keeps its colour. The faux leather heart collars use chrome plated hardware, which is fine for dry wear but is not stainless.
Can I wear it in the shower?
The stainless steel heart necklaces and chokers, yes; they are water resistant. Two exceptions. The heart padlock pieces have a working padlock in chrome plated brass, which goes dull if it is showered in. The faux leather heart collars are dry-wear only.
Is it hypoallergenic?
The steel hearts, for most wearers, yes. If a plated heart necklace from a high street shop gave you a rash, the plating is the usual cause, and the steel hearts have none.
Can I get it engraved?
Yes. The engraved heart pendants take a name, a date or initials on the face, cut to order in our studio in two to three days. Keep it short, five characters on the smaller hearts, and check the spelling on the product page before it goes in your basket, because each one is cut to what you type.
What comes in the box?
A black velvet pouch. Day collars come gift boxed as standard. On everything else, where a gift box is offered it's an option on the product page, and worth adding for a heart.
