Foxtail Chain Chokers

A foxtail choker moves like rope at the throat. Dozens of small links folded into a round cord with no front or back, so it catches light every time you turn your head and never lies wrong. If you want a choker that looks braided and feels like steel, this is it.

Ours run from a 2mm line up to 8mm, which has presence without being a chunky chain, all in 316L stainless steel, silver or 18k gold plated. Foxtail is dense for its width, so a 4mm wears heavier than a 4mm cable would. Sized Small, Medium and Large by neck measurement, with the 4 inch extender fitted to the chain; wrap a tape round your neck where you want it to sit. It doesn't tangle with a second chain, which makes it the easiest of our chokers to layer under a longer necklace. It's also here as a necklace and a bracelet, in the same widths.

Which width should I get?

2mm and 3mm are fine braided lines for layering with a longer chain. 5mm is the everyday foxtail choker, worn alone. 8mm has real body and is worn as the piece. The braid sits rounder than a flat chain, so each reads a little wider than its number.

What size do I need?

Tape round the neck just above the collarbone. Small fits 11 to 15 inches (28 to 38cm), Medium 13 to 17 inches (33 to 43cm), Large 15 to 19 inches (38 to 48cm). The 4 inch extender is included with each.

Does it need a pendant?

No. The braid catches light from every angle, so a foxtail choker is a finished piece on its own. If you want something hanging, put it on a plain chain below the choker rather than on the foxtail.

Silver or gold?

Gold foxtail shows the braid more, because every face of the weave throws light and the plate shows all of them. Silver reads like rope. Same 316L steel underneath; match your other jewellery.

Will it tarnish or turn my neck green?

No. Solid 316L stainless steel on the silver, 18k gold plate over it on the gold. A braid has more surface than any flat chain and would show tarnish first if it could.

Can I wear it in the shower?

Yes. Salt lodges in the braid after the sea, so give it a rinse under the tap and dry it.

Is it hypoallergenic?

For most wearers, yes. 316L stainless steel, with more of it against the neck than a flat chain because of the weave.

What comes in the box?

A black velvet pouch. Where a gift box is offered, you'll see it as an option on the product page.
