Gothic Pendant Chokers

Gothic pendant chokers, the ones with something at the front. A charm, a symbol, a padlock, a ring, a word, sitting at the base of the throat where it's seen rather than hidden under a collar. This is where our day collars live too, and the slip chains, because they're chokers with meaning attached, which is what a pendant is.

Everything here is 316L stainless steel, silver or 18k gold plated, with every chain cut and finished by us, so the pendant keeps its edges and the chain keeps its colour. The one thing to take off for the shower is a working heart padlock, which is plated brass. Pendant chokers are sized Small, Medium and Large by neck measurement with the 4 inch extender fitted; day collars are made to the inch, from 11 to 19, because a collar worn with meaning should fit exactly; slip chains have no size at all and adjust through the ring. Wrap a tape round your neck where you want it to sit. If you know the motif, the collections by style are quicker.

Which pendant choker should I start with?

A small cross or skull on a 4mm chain. It sits at the base of the neck, goes under a shirt collar, and reads clearly when it shows. A padlock or an O ring means something particular, and is bought by people who mean it. The spiked chainmail and layered O ring chokers are the heavy end, worn as the piece, and are the ones to buy second.

What size do I need?

Measure your neck where the pendant will sit, just above the collarbone. Small fits 11 to 15 inches (28 to 38cm), Medium 13 to 17 inches (33 to 43cm), Large 15 to 19 inches (38 to 48cm). The 4 inch extender is included, so the pendant can sit tight at the throat or drop an inch. For a gift, Medium.

Which chain width?

The chain comes matched to the pendant. Small pendants sit on 3mm and 4mm cable or Cuban. The heavy chokers sit on 8mm, 10mm, 12mm and 15mm, because the pendant or the ring needs a chain that can carry it and stay flat.

Will it tarnish or turn my neck green?

No. Pendant and chain are 316L stainless steel with no plate, so the casting keeps its detail and nothing marks the neck.

Can I wear it in the shower?

Yes. Water resistant. Rinse a detailed pendant under the tap now and then so product does not sit in the recesses.

Is it hypoallergenic?

For most wearers, yes. 316L stainless steel at the throat.
