Plain Chains
Plain chains, and nothing else. Everything in this collection has no pendant, no O ring, no padlock. A link, cut to size, finished by hand, in every construction we do and every width from 2mm to 18mm.
There are three ways in. By what you're wearing it on: chokers sized to the neck with the extender fitted, necklaces from 35cm to 90cm, bracelets in 2cm steps. By the chain itself: cable, Cuban, Figaro, box, belcher, foxtail, paperclip, Byzantine, each with its own collection and a line on what makes it different. Or by just browsing, which is what most people do the first time. All of it is 316L stainless steel, silver or 18k gold plated, which is the reason a chain from us looks the same in five years as it did the day it arrived, and the reason every one carries a lifetime guarantee. Most people buy one. Most of those come back for a second in a different width.
Which chain should I buy first?
Something plain at 4mm and 45cm, cable or box, in the metal you already wear on your hands. It will carry every pendant you buy afterwards and sit under a finer chain when you layer. The second chain is a 2mm for the layer; the third is a Cuban or Figaro at 6mm or more for the days you want the chain and nothing on it.
What size do I need?
Necklaces come in nine lengths from 35 to 90cm; 45cm is the collarbone and the standard, 50cm the pendant length, 55 and 60cm the chest. Chokers come in Small for 11 to 15 inch necks, Medium for 13 to 17 and Large for 15 to 19, with a 4 inch extender included. Bracelets come in 16, 18, 20 and 22cm; measure your wrist snug and add 1.5cm.
Which width?
Fine chains are 2mm and 3mm. Everyday chains are 4mm to 6mm. From 8mm the chain is noticed, and at 10mm and 12mm it is worn on its own. A wrist has less room than a neck, so bracelets go one width down from whatever you wear at the neck.
Which link?
Round links (cable, Belcher) and square links (box) hang a pendant straight, and the Belcher takes a charm on a jump ring. Flat links (Cuban, Figaro) are the ones to wear with nothing on them. Paperclip is the one to layer. Foxtail and Byzantine are the woven ones, light and heavy respectively. The chain types page has a photograph of each next to the others.
Will it tarnish or turn my skin green?
No. Every chain here is 316L stainless steel, silver or with an 18k gold plate over it. Steel does not react with air and has no copper in it, so a plain chain, which has nothing to hide behind, stays exactly as it left the studio.
Can I wear it in the shower?
Yes, every one of them. Rinse after salt water and dry.
