What size collar do I need?

Run a tape round your neck where the collar will sit, snug, not tight. Small to Medium fits 11.5 to 15 inches (29 to 38cm). Medium to Large fits 14 to 18.5 inches (35.5 to 47cm). The buckle has several holes, so each size adjusts about an inch and a half either way. If you measure 14 to 15 inches, either size works; go Small to Medium if you want the ring to sit high and close, Medium to Large if you want room to loosen it.

Which O ring size should I get?

Our collars carry a 40mm, 50mm or 60mm ring, and a few carry both a 60mm and a 40mm. A 40mm ring reads as a design detail and sits neatly on a slimmer neck. A 50mm ring is the standard and is the one on most of the collars here. A 60mm ring is large enough to be seen across a room and carries a padlock or a clip without the collar twisting. If the ring is going to have something hung from it, buy the bigger ring on the wider band.

Buckle, stud or padlock fastening?

Most collars here buckle at the back through a rear D ring, which gives you the adjustment and a second ring to clip to. Studded collars close with a press stud, which is quicker on and off and sits flatter under a shirt collar. Padlock collars replace the buckle with a small working lock, so the wearer cannot take it off without the key.

Can I wear it in the shower?

No. Faux leather is water resistant to the odd splash but not to a shower, and the chrome hardware on these collars is plated rather than solid stainless. Keep them dry and wipe the band with a damp cloth if it needs it. If you want a collar for water and sleep, our stainless steel day collars are made for that.

Is it hypoallergenic?

The faux leather band is fine against skin for almost everyone. The hardware is chrome plated alloy, which is not the same as stainless steel. If you react to costume jewellery, wear the collar over a shirt collar or choose a stainless steel choker instead.

How should I care for it?

Hang it by the buckle or lay it flat; folded, the band creases at the fold and stays creased. Wipe with a damp cloth and dry it. Keep it away from perfume and hairspray, which dull the hardware. Glitter bands shed a little at first; that stops after a few wears.
